What to Do Right Away If a Pipe Freezes
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue recommends knowing the location of your shut-off valves before winter arrives, specifically the valves for both hot and cold water lines and the power shut-off for your water heater. When a pipe does freeze, shut off the water valve to that pipe first. If it’s a hot water line, shut off the water heater as well.
