- Inspect and clean the inlet screen and discharge pipe if it discharges to the outside.
- Make sure the float is clear of debris. You can dump a bucket of water into the pit to verify that the switch is working. The pump should turn on to empty the pit.
- If your pump has a battery backup, make sure the battery is good.
- Going on vacation — check your pump before you leave!
